Interest in Social Media Influencer marketing has grown 90-fold since 2013. And I hate to knock myself, but I’m recognized as an influencer in the digital marketing industry. But how? Why? In this article, we’ll look at how I became one and how to influence your own industry and best Social Media Influencer tips.

Start by Becoming an Influencer in a Niche Field
The reason you need a niche is to start as a micro-influencer in your niche.
Micro influencers create powerful word of mouth for small groups. They don’t have the Kardashian following, but they’re much cheaper and can still reach enough people to make a difference in product sales.
What’s more: Research shows that they double sales from paid ads and generate a 37% higher customer retention rate.
It’s not enough just to choose the sector you want to influence.
Take my case for example. Digital marketing is a broad topic, and I won’t come out on top by focusing on just one broad keyword.

I started in the trenches of SEO before learning about content marketing, conversion rate optimization, Social Media Influencer marketing, social media marketing and more. I worked hard. To gain nearly 300k Twitter followers.
One day you can get 300k followers; But to become an Social Media Influencer, you have to start with one.
Start becoming an expert among your friends and peers.
Be the expert in your city and state.
Then become an influencer from there.
Create a Content Strategy
Once you have a niche, it’s time to develop your content strategy. Content strategy can be a vague concept, but for the purposes of this post, we mean things like tone, tone, and author’s voice, as well as publishing content elements (text, graphics, etc.).
Even a content marketing agency admits that there is no template for this, as each person’s brand needs and goals are different.
For my content strategy, I have strict goals I set to create a set of social posts on each network while maintaining blog quality and working on side projects. I made sure to use the same conversational tone and voice (can you tell?) in my content.
Not too hard, right?
Once you have this information, you can select your channels.
Select Your Channels
There is no wrong answer to which social channels to be on and which to avoid.
Facebook is the most popular, with 94% of marketers worldwide using Facebook as of January 2020, followed by LinkedIn with 76%.
Facebook is the most popular with 61% market share in 2016. But that’s down from 65% in 2015, and other social channels are still valid.
While I enjoy my time on some channels more than others, I don’t play favorites when it comes to engaging with my audience.
I do my best to show up everywhere.
Besides Twitter, I’m on Facebook.
Our page gets a ton of traffic and has a great conversion rate.
I’m also active on LinkedIn and Pinterest, which I think is more visually appealing than Instagram. We think it has more marketing potential than Instagram.
Different audiences (and audience sizes) expect different content for each channel.
These are just my social channels. I am not including my blogging and guest blogging efforts.
You don’t have to keep it active on multiple channels, but choose one or two to maximize your influence.
Network Within the Industry
To become an influencer, you need to build real connections.
Everyone wants to sit at home on their couch and interact with social media influencers.
It is simply not an option. Popular tech influencer iJustine, for example, has 1.2 million Twitter followers.
He’s very active with his followers, but can’t personally engage with all 1.2 million in any meaningful way.
You can join Justin Ezarik at tech trade shows like CES, the Webby Awards, Streamies, and more. You can follow his social accounts to see what events he attends.
Event marketing is a huge trend and boasting influencer attendance is huge.
Why not prioritize marketing yourself?
Get out of bed, get out of the house, and go to your important events. Or, even easier, attend online events that are becoming increasingly popular in the post-Covid world.

Participate in Off-site Forums
Being popular on a social network has its advantages. For example, in 2020, the most popular YouTubers earn over a billion dollars a year from advertisements and sponsorships.
Not all of us can be that lucky. The rest of us need to get outside of social media and participate in forums, opinion polls, and other online discussions so we can grow our following.
Every discussion you can be a part of online improves your reputation, influence and connections.
Create a Website or Blog
Conversations never end on social media.
You always have more to say than you can fit into a tweet or Instagram post.
With a site or blog, you have a spot to coordinate your social followers as you gain them.
Personally, I am a huge fan of blogging.
One of the best content management systems for creating a website or blog is WordPress.
Don’t be an influencer without reason.
Start by including a link to your blog in your social media posts and be prepared to drive your followers to your well-crafted conversion funnel. A link to your website or blog can really increase your audience’s engagement on social media.
It goes without saying that longer blog content should provide more value than a social post to get clicks.
Provide Value to the Conversation
If you don’t add value to the conversation, you won’t reach the ears of anyone influential.
To become an influencer, you need to be the person people talk to each other about.
Word of mouth is the most influential element in driving purchasing decisions today.
If you can impress people with your knowledge and conversational value, they will sell everyone else to you.
Then they’ll tell a couple of friends, and so on until you become an influencer!
Stay Ahead of Current Events – Influencer tips
There are two types of content, evergreen and topical.
Evergreen content, such as an article about a historical event, is always relevant.
Topic content is hot right now, but will soon be forgotten. Basically, everything is happening today.
When writing a blog post, I would stay as green as possible because you don’t want to constantly update your content. But on social media, staying up-to-date on current events is key to sharing.
For example, Lafayette’s Ellen Carmichael’s biggest tweet of 2017 connected the 2016 presidential election to the 2017 Super Bowl.
Utilizing these ideal pictures made a brand win for Carmichael by engaging Super Bowl fans who recollect the political race.
Being a topic is how you go viral on social media.
You can utilize apparatuses to keep steady over virtual entertainment patterns. You can also set up a Google News alert to monitor the entire web for specific keywords and phrases.
Do how you really want to remain current.
Understand All Channels – Influencer tips
Even if you don’t use a specific social media channel, if you want to become an influencer, it’s still important to understand who does.
For example, I’m not a big user of Snapchat, but I understand that its 250 million+ (mostly younger) users can’t be ignored.
Because the user demographics of each channel are so diverse, each social network requires a different strategy.

This means that an authentic voice on social media is more important than an expensive Super Bowl ad.
